Foundation Discussion Can Be Learned (DKJL), makes socially sensitive topics such as homosexuality and LGBTI discrimination debatable. Every year, they speak with tens of thousands of children and young people throughout the country. Themes of discrimination, human rights and the multicultural society are high on their agenda. DKJL organizes the Purple Friday debates and the human rights debate together with Foundation Art.1 (among others), where they enter into discussions with young people about human rights and LGBTI rights. They see Pride as a unique opportunity to make the voice and opinions of their young people heard – whom they call ‘debate heroes’. Debate heroes stand up for their own opinion and those of others. They learn to listen to stories from LGBTI human rights activists. They deserve to be heard. Conclusion: Debate hero or not? Discussion can be learned!
