Together we fight cancer!
1 out of 2 persons in the Netherlands will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Cancer affects everyone, no matter who or what you are, and makes everyone vulnerable, insecure and anxious. Certain types of cancer and cancer treatment can have a very direct impact on identity, sex and sexuality. For LGBTQIA+ cancer patients, it can be very difficult to talk with doctors and nurses about cancer, cancer treatment and life after cancer treatment in relation to their sexual orientation. By being a part of the pride parade, we want to show in a positive way that we are there for everyone with cancer, regardless of orientation or identity.
The Netherlands Cancer Institute is a specialized cancer hospital in the Netherlands, a leading international research institute and an important training center for healthcare professionals and researchers. It employs more than 3,500 people and treats more than 41,000 patients every year.
Thanks to our groundbreaking research, we understand cancer better and better and cancer is increasingly a treatable disease; we are proud of that.
At the Netherlands Cancer Institute, research results are translated very efficiently into better treatments because researchers, doctors, nurses and technicians all have the same goal and work together in one building.
Research and cancer treatment can only be carried out in a team with great diversity. Our teams consist of employees with different expertise and different backgrounds in terms of nationality, ethnicity, age, sexuality, religion, etc.
Together we fight cancer! Together with patients and their relatives, other national and international hospitals and research institutes and important partners such as the Dutch Cancer Society and the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. But above all, together with all our employees.
