#54 Ark van Amsterdam

The theme of our boat is ‘Noah’s Ark’. A connecting theme in many ways. With a beautiful symbolism that seamlessly aligns with #youareincluded.

The story of the ark is found in Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and some Gnostic and Hermetic traditions. It is considered a universal and connecting story.

Noah built a large ark to survive a great flood. His family and every kind of animal, two by two, boarded the boat. The animals on the boat were not necessarily friends. In fact, sometimes they were enemies. But they lived together in peace and harmony on the ark with a strong conviction to survive the disaster and build a new society. The story emphasizes the importance of cooperation, tolerance, and transcending differences in moments that matter. The story calls upon all of us to make use of each other’s qualities and see differences as a strength.

Our realization of this theme during Pride Amsterdam 2023 is sparkling by making a modern translation of our message. All participants on the boat come as an animal species of their choice. We ensure, like Noah, a diversity of animals on board. Therefore, all participants will choose an animal that can inspire them to create a quirky and exuberant performance. This way, we can guarantee that there won’t be only unicorns on the boat 🙂
