This year, the Bi+ Boat of Bi+ Nederland is joining the Canal Parade for the third time. With our boat, we represent bi+ people. Bi+ is an umbrella term for people who are attracted to more than one gender. In the Netherlands, around one million people are bi+!

Bi+ Nederland is the national equality organisation dedicated to bi+ people and promoting a bi+ inclusive society. We want bi+ to be seen as a self-evident, positive and equal sexual orientation by 2030. Investing in bi+ equality ensures more thinking outside of the box and more space for people to be themselves.

Despite bi+ people being the largest group within the lhbtiq+ community, bi+ people are often invisible and face bi+ phobia, even within lhbtiq+ communities. As a result, bi+ people find it difficult to find and build community, even though many need it. Therefore, loved ones where bi+ people find support are very important. This year, we invite bi+ people to be on the boat with loved ones such as their child(ren), parent(s) or partner(s) to highlight both bi+ people and important people in their lives. After all, working on equality, inclusion and visibility is something you do together!
