My name is Cas Wolters, 28 years old, deaf, and born in the beautiful Limburg! The Pride theme of this year, #TOGETHER, spoke to me tremendously! For me, this symbolizes unity, equality, and bringing people or groups together. That’s why I’m proud that my organization has been selected, and we proudly sail along on Saturday, August 3, 2024.

Around me, I see and hear people with unique stories. Some were rejected because of their sexual orientation, others were not understood due to hearing loss. In a world that is not yet ‘together’, many are still excluded or judged because of their clothing style, disability, or sexual orientation. This only widens the gap between different communities even more. These brave individuals have now (thankfully) blossomed into beautiful, inspiring individuals. I’m proud to know them. In a world where prejudices still form barriers, we want to break these down and strive for an inclusive world where everyone can thrive and participate. Don’t judge, but engage in #TOGETHER conversation.

This participation in the boat parade is a tribute to wonderful people. Together, we are committed to equality and empowerment! Along with these champions, we regularly organize inspiration sessions, where we gladly demonstrate what an ideal world could look like, and how easy it can be.

On our Pride boat, the concept of coming ‘together at the table’ is central. Sign language, music, dance, exchanging stories, sharing meals, cooking, and baking symbolize universal connections. In short, the essence of tolerance and connectedness: a place where everyone can be themselves and express themselves freely. An idealworld! Hearing, deaf, gay, bi; enjoy each other’s authenticity. Everyone is welcome and belongs!

Unfortunately, due to the hectic pace of the times we live in, we often forget to look at and listen to each other. Too often, we are solely focused on our own world. Everyone has gone through a unique development and deserves to be heard and seen.

With (sign language) interpreters on board, we ensure that communication is accessible to everyone.

TOGETHER in Pride is more than just a slogan for me; it’s a way of life where we strive for an inclusive society where everyone feels accepted, heard, and seen. There is no limit to diversity and individuality here.

With love,
Cas Wolters
