The Unlimited Together boat

The Unlimited Together boat is a collaboration between Zonder Stempel (COC’s national group for and by LGBTQI’s with a mild intellectual disability) and the Association for Disabled Care Netherlands (VGN) and the healthcare organizations for people with disabilities affiliated with the VGN. With this boat we draw attention to a large group of invisible LGBTQI’s. People with a (mental) disability have been fighting their whole lives for a place in society. They want to participate in society, just like everyone else and together with others. LGBTQI people with (intellectual) disabilities often fight twice for acceptance. Namely for equality and for acceptance of their sexual and gender diversity. With this Unlimited Together boat they get the attention they deserve. A place where they can be themselves, a place where they can show themselves and participate in the Pride together with all the other participants!

People with (intellectual) disability want to live a meaningful life too and simply participate in society together with others. Loneliness is a big problem among them. Also when it comes to expressing their sexual orientation and participating in activities that suit them. Because that is far from always possible. Sometimes because society is too complicated, sometimes because their disability makes it extra difficult for them to express their sexual and gender diversity. On this Unlimited Together boat they show that they can participate, regardless of their disability or gender. That they are part of our society, just like everyone else. With the Unlimited Together boat participating in the Canal Parade, LGBTQI people with an intellectual disability share their proud feeling. On this colorful boat with different people the central theme is TOGETHER. Together we’ll make a great party!
