Description
UNIT€D BY EURO
The Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) presents a powerful statement with its boat UNIT€D BY EURO, showing that connection, equality and freedom know no borders.
DNB works for financial stability and sustainable prosperity in the Netherlands and Europe. With around 2,500 employees it ensures a reliable financial system where everyone can safely pay, save, borrow and invest. DNB takes this responsibility not only economically but also socially. The organisation has become a frontrunner in LGBTIQ+ inclusion and in 2025 became the first public organisation worldwide to achieve the highest Advocate status on the Workplace Pride Global Benchmark (100%). This places DNB among the most LGBTIQ+-inclusive employers in the world.
European unity and a historic milestone
In a year when WorldPride and EuroPride come together in Amsterdam, the theme UNITY is central. With UNIT€D BY EURO, DNB brings this European connection into Pride, using the euro as a symbol of cooperation, trust and equality.
This symbol carries extra meaning this year. In 2026 it will be 25 years since the Netherlands became the first country in the world to open marriage to same-sex couples. To mark this anniversary, an official commemorative coin has been struck to represent love, freedom and progress. That coin is incorporated into the boat concept: the large inflatable euro coin references Europe, DNB’s role, and this milestone.
One powerful image, one shared experience
The boat blends the gold of the vault with the recognizable DNB blue, complemented by European stars and Pride flags. Everything, from outfits to choreography set to a specially chosen track, tells a single cohesive story with a playful nod to the gold vault. Alongside DNB colleagues, staff from other European central banks will also sail, connected through the INCLUDE network (Inclusive Network for Central Banks Leading Unity, Diversity & Equality), founded in 2025 on DNB’s initiative.
Interactive MCs engage the crowd with international call-outs such as: “From Amsterdam to Berlin, from Paris to Madrid. We are United by Euro!” After each bridge there is a joint choreography, with waving European Pride flags and golden stars.
UNIT€D BY EURO shows that Pride, like Europe, is about moving forward together: visible, proud and connected.
