Our theme for Canal Parade 2022 is “Love is Love”. As LGBTIQ+ networks of various ministries, we want to share our pride with each other and with the world.

Our employer, the national government, has taken an important step this year. On May 17, the SG of the Ministry of Interior and Kingdom Relations signed the ‘Declaration of Amsterdam’. With this declaration of intent, the government expresses its support for LGBTIQ inclusion in the workplace and equal opportunities for our target group. As representatives of this central government, we want to show the world that you can be yourself in our country and that starts with the central government, which stands for that!
We are not there yet: much can still be achieved through inclusive legislation and cultural programs in Dutch society.
DGP believes that the national government as an employer should set a good example. With our presence, we as DGP and the LGBTIQ+ networks of the central government show that the central government takes its exemplary role as an employer seriously.

Our slogan “Love is Love” can be seen running the full length of the boat. We demonstrate the diversity and inclusion of the national government as an employer through a multitude of colorfully dressed participants on board and our kissing inflatable rainbow lions.

The slogan on the boat refers to the necessary commitment of the national government. The text emphasizes the responsibility of the national government to promote and guarantee diversity and inclusion as much as possible. As rainbow networks, we have a connecting role in this. We will be accompanied by a DJ who will take 120 enthusiastic participants with the spectators on the quay in urgency for freedom, emancipation, equality and acceptance of everyone in Dutch society.
