It’s a small (fetish) world after all!
The fetish community has historically — think Stonewall and our memories of last year — been an important group. In the Pride Amsterdam Canal Parade it often attracts positive attention. At the same time, fetish culture is increasingly becoming less visible in today’s more conservative society. We believe many people have a fetish or would like to explore one. We want to remain visible. Fetish isn’t strange or scary — it’s fun, exciting and connective!
With a playful wink to the famous “it’s a small world” attraction at the Disney parks, we want to show that we live in a small world. While we are all unique, we also share similarities. Within fetish scenes people find one another everywhere — something we want to bring into WorldPride.
This year, within the theme of unity, we want to highlight this even more while staying true to our core principle: all fetish people are welcome!
Fetish@Pride is an official committee within Pride Amsterdam. This branch of Pride focuses on keeping fetish visible within the LGBTQIA+ community. Since the current committee took over two years ago, we’ve organised many great events — masterclasses, information evenings, panels, last year’s Pride Park boat and much more. As a committee we value openness, accessibility and approachability. We mainly focus on activities in Amsterdam/North Holland, but we have national recognition.
