Iraanse boot

Initiated by a group of like-minded friends, JoopeA Foundation was established in 2009 in Iran, with the purpose to transform society’s rules for the rights and betterment of minorities, especially queer* people. And through our hearts Iran Pride was born; a project that brings Iranian queers and their allies together to make their desire for an equal society come true.

Here in Amsterdam, in August 2017 history was made: For the first time in the world a large group of Iranians joined hands and participated in Pride Parade publicly and proudly; An event that shined the beams of hope to the heart of Iranian and Persian-speaking queers around the world; an action that moved many other organizations to do the same in other parts of the world.

Most importantly, the Iran Pride boat became a smile on the face of queers who watched us secretly on the internet in Iran. And it was their wish that we sailed again in 2018 to become the voice of the voiceless and win the Public’s Award then. We won the hearts…

And once again, Iran Pride is back stronger than ever to show the world that we, the Iranian queers exist and are included in the gods’ favorite list!

Hopefully, we will organize the Pride Parade in Iran one day soon.
