Description

Iris Justitia: the rainbow network of the Judiciary

This year Iris Justitia, the rainbow network of the Judiciary, is taking part in the Canal Parade of WorldPride Amsterdam. The Judiciary is independent and impartial, but that does not mean it is invisible. The judiciary is an important part of a well‑functioning rule of law. That means the Judiciary stands up for fundamental values that apply to everyone. A key principle of our constitution is found in Article 1: discrimination is prohibited. Every day staff at the Judiciary work to ensure equal treatment, whoever you are, whatever you look like, where you come from or whom you love.

People from diverse backgrounds work at the Judiciary: lawyers, administrative staff, security officers and service professionals. Together we create an organisation where everyone feels safe and respected. Iris Justitia brings LGBTIQ+ colleagues and allies within the Judiciary together. That is also why we want to show that diversity and inclusion here are not just important words, but our shared strength.

We think it is important, especially now during WorldPride, to show what we stand for: equal treatment, respect and justice for everyone.

Unity in Justice.
