The “Onbeperkt Meedoen” boat is a collaboration between Zonder Stempel (the national group of the COC for and by LGBTI people with a mild intellectual disability) and the Vereniging Gehandicaptenzorg Nederland (VGN) and their affiliated care organizations for people with disabilities.
With this boat we draw attention to a large group of invisible LGBTI people. People with a (mental) disability fight all their lives for a place in society. They just want to participate, just like everyone else. LGBTI people with a (mental) disability often fight for double acceptance. Namely for equality and their sexual and gender diversity. With the “Onbeperkt Meedoen” boat they get the attention they deserve. A place where they can be themselves, a place where they can show themselves and participate in the pride without limits!

People with a (mental) disability also want to live a meaningful life. And just participate in society. Also when it comes to expressing their identity or sexual orientation and participating in activities. That’s not always possible. Sometimes because society is too complicated, sometimes because it is extra difficult to stand up for their sexual and gender diversity because of their disability. On the boat they show that they can also participate, regardless of their disability or identity. That they want to share their proud feeling with everyone and that there is attention for them. On the colorful boat, the rainbow heart is central as a symbol. Together we make it an unlimited party! Everyone is included!
