Your LIFESTYLE, Your GENDER, Your PRIDE!

OUTtv has been the lifestyle TV channel for the LGBTQI+ community & the open-minded in the Netherlands for over 14 years, and is a fixture for the visibility of our diverse community in the Dutch media landscape. OUTtv is diverse and offers internationally successful TV programmes, award winning arthouse films, impressive documentaries, OUT Originals and popular LGBTQI+ series such as: ‘Drag Race Thailand’, ‘Woke’, ‘Luimelia’, ‘Queen of the Oilpatch’ and the hit series ‘Veneno’.

Veneno
Veneno tells the story of Valeria, a young journalism student who decides to write a book about the life of Spanish trans woman, singer and television personality Cristina Ortiz Rodríguez “La Veneno”, one of the most beloved and charismatic transgender icons of the 90s.

No whore, no saint!
The impressive series ‘Veneno’ was created based on Cristina’s memoirs. Just as La Veneno itself increased the visibility of transgender people in the 1990s, the series takes up the baton twice over. The makers insisted that all transgender characters be played by actors who are themselves actually transgender. Thus, three transgender actresses portray Cristina in different phases of her life. In the meantime, the series has become an international hit, partly thanks to the large cast of transgender actors.

The series has also drawn public attention to the current experience of young transgender people in Europe, which is in many ways different from the time when La Veneno became famous. Although the European LGBTQI+ community currently enjoys more acceptance and rights than in Cristina’s heyday, there is still much to be desired and fought for both in Europe and the Netherlands.

OUTtv wants to honour Cristina and remind everyone at the event how important the visibility of different gender identities is. With the aim that everyone, regardless of their gender, feels presented by and to OUTtv!

OUTtv can be received by more than 2 million households in the Netherlands and has more than 1.5 million viewers per month through its channels at KPN, VodafoneZiggo, Telfort, Caiway, Youfone, XS4ALL, T-mobile, Delta, Fiber, ONLINE.NL, Stipte, SKV & Prime Video Channels.
