Parnassia Groep – Every mind is a rainbow

Proudly, Parnassia Groep will sail along this year during the Canal Parade! As one of the largest mental healthcare organisations in the Netherlands, we will use the WorldPride to show that diversity, inclusion and mental health are inextricably linked.

With some 13,500 professionals we treat and support around 180,000 people with mental health or addiction problems each year. We do this guided by our core values: compassionate, connecting and optimistic. We believe in a society where everyone can participate and no one is excluded — a society where you can be yourself, both in who you are and in how you feel.

Within the LGBTQIA+ community the risk of mental health issues is demonstrably higher, while openness and recognition are not yet a given. That is why it is important for us to be visible as an organisation during WorldPride. Through our participation we aim to break down stigma, strengthen connection and show that mental health should be talked about.

Everyone has their own story, identity and way of thinking and feeling. Those differences are what make us unique as people. Together they form a colourful whole. That is exactly what Pride stands for, and what we work for every day.

Concept: Every mind is a Rainbow

Our boat concept “Every mind is a rainbow” celebrates the power of mental diversity. Every person thinks, feels and experiences differently. On our boat we bring that variety to life.

All participants wear white clothing as a symbol of equality, openness and togetherness. Above that, expressive, colourful headpieces and face decorations appear — a metaphor for unique expressions of thoughts, identities and inner worlds. Each headpiece is different, just as every mind is unique.

Together the boat becomes a moving artwork in which mental diversity is joyfully celebrated as something that connects us.
