Poz&Proud has been defending the interest of gay & queer men with HIV. We organize sociable drinks, information sessions and weekend trips and both publicly and behind the scenes fight for the HIV+ community. We’re proudly part of the HIV Vereniging Nederland.

Since 2013, every edition we’ve been a part of the Canal Parade, where every time we show that you don’t just live with HIV, but can live as blissful and long life as everyone else.

Last year figures from the HIV Monitoring Foundation (SHM) indicated that only nine people contracted HIV in Amsterdam. Down more than 90% since 2010. Thanks to the activism and awareness-raising from the HIV+ community, along with those fighting for PrEP access and the medical community we accomplished this. The awareness of Undetectable = Untransmittable (u=u), along with broader PrEP accessibility are instrumental in the decline in new HIV infections.

That’s why we invite all those who fought for PrEP, and healthcare professionals and researchers in this field, to count down with us. The spectacular decline in new infections has been accomplished by all of us together, and it indicates that it’s possible to stem HIV transmission – not only here, but in the whole world.
