Every year hundreds of people in the Netherlands contract HIV, which is unacceptable as far as PrEPnu is concerned. The HIV virus has been around for 40 years and there is still no vaccine or long-term cure, which means that people carry the virus with them for the rest of their lives.
A proven effective drug that prevents HIV infection has been available for 10 years; PrEP.
However, this is only made available to a small group of people in the Netherlands. PrEPnu fights for the general availability of PrEP to ensure that we can prevent HIV for all people at risk.
Entire groups of people have been excluded from organized PrEP care by the government. PrEPnu protests and is lobbying for inclusive care for all.
“You are included” it this years Pride theme. PrEPnu volunteers, ambassadors and the House of Hopelezz with Jennifer Hopelezz show that everyone MUST be included, but unfortunately isn’t if it is about hiv prevention.
