The province of Noord-Holland will participate again in the Canal Parade this year with the boat ‘Matching Pieces’. Residents of Noord-Holland can register to sail until the 2nd of June by sharing a story about someone who has made a meaningful match for them that makes them feel loved. Participants will be selected from all submissions at the end of June to sail with the person from their story.

As a rainbow province, we want to improve the visibility and acceptance of people from the LGBTQIA+ community with our participation. Therefore, we do not put our organization in the spotlight during the Canal Parade, but our residents.

A boat full of residents of Noord-Holland from the rainbow community who clearly belong together, even though they are sometimes so different: this is how we give a face to the #TOGETHER theme. With the matching puzzle pieces we make this equality and inclusion tangible. We ask our LGBTQIA+ residents: who makes you feel connected and loved? Who is a real match maker? We will collect and share these Pride stories in the coming months through all our channels. We invite the people with the most special stories to sail with us on our boat. In this way they can show that you always have a match with someone and that everyone can feel connected during the Canal Parade.
