We let LGBTIQ+ people from different regions in the Netherlands tell their story on and around the boat in a short and powerful way, and in this way show in a personal way what is going well and what could be better with the safety and acceptance in the Netherlands, and we want to give especially less visible groups (B, Q, A etc.) a stage. That fits in well with the theme.

The diversity is also reflected in the clothing. We also give, to a lesser extent, some special professionals who are doing well in this field a platform to share their story. In the months leading up to the CanalPride, people can tell their story and see/read and share the stories of others via our hashtag #StoriesToShare. This way, we give the theme of sexual and gender identity a face within the provinces.

In short, we put the people and their experiences first, not our organisations. Secondly, we do show that we as governments stand behind the LGBT+ people and are committed to their safety and acceptance.
