12. Queer Salsa Netherlands

Unité: Stichting Queer-Salsa Nederland at World Pride 2026.

Our participation focuses on inclusion, self-expression and joy. Unité symbolizes the power of coming together. Through dance we bring people together, break down barriers and build a community where everyone can shine and feel seen.

We are Stichting Queer-Salsa Nederland, an inclusive dance community where salsa and queer expression meet. We run classes, workshops and events year-round in locations including Rotterdam and Amsterdam, welcoming everyone to grow, have fun and be part of a safe community.

Workshops & preparation

Ahead of the Canal Parade we organise workshops where participants learn salsa and voguing moves. Participants can sign up for these workshops and do not need to be experienced dancers—everyone is welcome. In the workshops we focus not only on technique but also on connection: dance as a way to unite, meet one another and create something together. We pay attention to respectful dancing, use of space and inclusivity so everyone feels comfortable. This preparation builds a strong, energetic group on the boat.

The boat: Unité

During the Canal Parade 2026 we present the Unité theme: a celebration of connection, diversity and solidarity within the queer community. With 60 to 80 dancers, performers and revelers we create a vibrant, visual experience. Salsa and voguing form the heart of our performance—two dance styles that come together and literally and figuratively unite people. The boat is accessible, including for wheelchair users, so everyone can participate safely and freely.

More than the Parade

Besides the Canal Parade we organise dance activities and events throughout the year, and in November we have a special queer salsa trip planned to Curaçao. Through social media we share rehearsals, behind-the-scenes and inspiring content to connect and grow our community.
