SOBER=SEXY BOAT DURING THE CANAL PRIDE
“To have a good party, you don’t need alcohol or drugs.”
The SOBER=SEXY boat aims to show the world that we exist. By “we,” we mean people (whether or not from the LGBTQI+ community) who live sober, without alcohol and drugs, for various reasons but with a common goal: to be healthy, independent, and true to oneself! It is the first time that a boat will sail in the canal parade dedicated to being sober. The dangers and health risks associated with alcohol use have become increasingly evident in recent years and are reaching more people. It is high time for the message: SOBER=SEXY!
The SOBER=SEXY boat aims to inspire the audience during the canal parade to reflect on their own relationship with alcohol/drugs. The boat also aims to show that you can express yourself creatively without the use of numbing substances. You don’t need to use alcohol or drugs to have fun and party. SOBER=SEXY!
The SOBER=SEXY boat is an initiative of Jeroen van Zanten, Kevin Hassing, and Koos van Plateringen. The Queer and Sober Foundation is the driving force behind the creation of the boat. Queer & Sober is a brand new foundation. More and more people were missing a place in our community where they could be themselves without alcohol and drugs. The Queer and Sober Foundation provides a platform for members of the queer community who are alcohol-free or interested in an alcohol-free lifestyle. We organize bi-weekly meet-ups and events and are a voice for all topics important to sober and/or aspiring sober queer individuals. Check: www.queerandsober.org.
