Description
Queer to Support is the queer community of the Here to Support foundation. The community brings together queer refugees who often don’t have the space in reception centres to be their full selves. Because the step into the wider queer community can feel large, Queer to Support offers a safe place for recognition, solidarity, and mutual support.
The group meets to cook, eat, and take part in various activities: they talk about queer identity and sexuality, dance, or organise collective actions. Drawing on their own experiences, participants work for greater visibility and a humane asylum system. They make their voices heard by organising events, taking part in panels, and joining demonstrations and protests together.
On an individual level, Queer to Support also offers social support around safety, mental health, and the asylum procedure.
