Tess van Zwol Pride

This year we are giving inclusivity a ‘face’ by exhibiting a photo series in De Hallen in Amsterdam and showing it on our Pride boat.

We will depict the theme of Pride, ‘#YouAreIncluded’, through the perspective of a kaleidoscope on our Pride boat. Looking through a kaleidoscope is an inclusive way to look at each other.
It divides the image we are looking at into countless small pieces, all of which are part of one beautiful, magical image. All kinds of colors and shapes are spread over the different mosaic tiles, making them individual and inseparable at the same time. How nice would it be if we all looked at the world according to the kaleidoscope principle? Everyone would be a strong individual expressing the many facets of their own identity while being an indispensable part of the greater whole.
You are unique and one of a kind, and just as important as all the other pieces of the kaleidoscope. You are there, with your own colors and shapes. We are all included.

Using a kaleidoscope, 10 striking portraits will be made of people from the community, with the aim of giving visibility to the LGBTQIA+ community and the story behind a person will be told at the exhibition. The portraits are not only of LGBTQIA+ people, but also of the “ally’s” around them. Allies are an important bridge to acceptance and normalization. FROM EACH PERSPECTIVE YOU ARE INCLUDED can be seen during the month of August in De Hallen and featured on our boat.
