Unity for the Community:
These are politically charged times, both nationally and internationally. Unfortunately, we increasingly have to defend the rights we fought for as a community. That’s why Our political parties stand united on the Unity-for-the-Community boat and lock hands with the rainbow community.

Since 2019, five political parties have sailed together on one boat during the Amsterdam Pride Canal Parade. Despite our differences, we show that our parties are united in our commitment to the rights and acceptance of the rainbow community. When you look at the broader political debate, it sometimes seems that parties are mainly concerned with magnifying differences and scoring points at the expense of our community. That is why as Unity for the Community, we have a common goal: equal rights, acceptance and safety for LGBTIQ+ people.

This year, as Unity for the Community, we show the vital importance of democracy for the rainbow community. Without a free democracy and the rule of law, it is impossible to be who you really are. It is the cornerstone on which you can develop as a person into a free, responsible and involved citizen in our society. As political parties, we emphasize our common goal to stand together for the rights of our community under the slogan, Democracy goes hand in hand with our Rainbow community.

To emphasise our commitment, we D66, PvdA, GroenLinks, CDA and VVD, have also invited others that have signed the Rainbow Ballot Agreement, such as Volt, SP and PvdD, to join us this year. Just as we invited several of our sister parties from Europe. Unity for the Community has been sailing since 2019. The first year with D66, VVD, PvdA, CDA and SP, since then, with GroenLinks. During those years, we have jointly committed ourselves to, among other things, multi-parenthood, trans rights and safe education for LGBTIQ+ people.
