Upstream Amsterdam is the swim club of the LGBTQI+ community in Amsterdam — and with nearly 200 swimmers it’s even the largest in the Netherlands. From the very beginning we’ve proudly taken part in Pride.

Upstream Amsterdam is the swim club of the LGBTQI+ community in Amsterdam — and with nearly 200 swimmers it’s the largest in the Netherlands. From the start we’ve proudly joined the Pride parade.
This year we have a clear message: “Don’t be afraid of us.” Unfortunately, we still see that especially younger generations sometimes feel fear or distance toward the LGBTQI+ community. With our presence we want to show who we truly are: open, engaged, strong and above all connecting.
On this boat you’ll see it all — from choreography to music and eye‑catching outfits. But Upstream is more than today. We are a close, active community that trains several times a week in three pools across Amsterdam. We also compete nationally and internationally and are socially engaged within the city.
We’re proud to sail again this year. Last year we finished third — and of course we hope to win a prize again this year… or maybe even go higher!
At Upstream everyone is welcome. Diversity is our strength and connection is our goal.
