Description
Film about artist Bart Davidse, who died of AIDS in 1986. Bart, originally from Zeeland, studied at the St Joost Academy in Breda and settled as an artist in Amsterdam in 1982. His brother Koert Davidse, a documentary filmmaker, made a portrait of Bart after 40 years. The film not only shows Bart’s development as a person and artist, but also paints a picture of the times and reveals the dramatic impact his illness and death had on his family and friends. The film won Best Documentary — and the Audience Award — at both Film by the Sea and De Roze Filmdagen. The documentary features an extensive display of Bart Davidse’s work. The screenings are part of an exhibition of his work, which cinema audiences frequently requested.
