Chris Rijk is known for his playful ceramic works that blend the rich tradition of Delft Blue with images from pop and queer culture and fragments of everyday life. Through hand-painted motifs he transforms classic forms such as plates, vases and decorative objects into personal expressions that often carry a socially critical edge. Themes like identity, masculinity and consumer culture feature strongly. In this new solo exhibition he presents a diverse collection, ranging from painted vases and plates to whimsical tiles and gilded buttplugs.
