Besides showing that we are a beautiful, diverse and colourful community, the WorldPride March is the protest to show the world that we do not accept others telling us how to live.
Besides showing that we are a beautiful, diverse and colourful community, the WorldPride March is the protest to show the world that we do not accept others telling us how to live. We also march for those who cannot join us, and to make that visible, we carry the flags of countries where homosexuality is punishable under the penal code. To do this, we follow the ILGA list and also liaise with 76Crimes, an organisation that monitors anti-gay legislation worldwide.
Difference between Pride March and WorldPride March
During the opening weekend on Saturday 25 July, the Pride March will take place. Then, around 15,000 people will walk from Dam Square to the Vondelpark, where Pride Park takes place. Because of the WorldPride and the participating international groups/prides that will mainly be present during the last week, we will walk one more time during the closing weekend. The WorldPride March will be many times bigger and then we will also make it possible for trucks from various organisations to participate with music, statements & much more.
More information will follow soon.
