Senior Pride

The goal of the committee is to ensure that both active and vulnerable older LGBTQIA+ individuals feel seen, recognized, and appreciated. They seize PRIDE as an opportunity for this. Even though older LGBTQIA+ individuals may not be highly visible, they certainly exist, and in significant numbers! Sexual orientation knows no age. For seniors and their supporters, the Senior Pride committee organizes a diverse program including the Senior Pride Concert, The Pink Brunch, and pink activities in many care centers. Come and definitely take a look, listen, and enjoy.

The 20-page Senior Pride News 2024 is ready, printed, and distributed! It includes information, news, and a packed agenda full of activities for LGBTQIA+ seniors. This year, it features a beautiful foreword by Wielie Elhorst, LGBTQIA+ pastor. Additionally, it is filled with impressive stories, an overview of the pink social map, and opportunities for pink activities and gatherings. Happy reading!

This year, we asked Iris van Wees to design a new Pride flag for Volkshotel. She loves to explore colour, shape and emotions with a playful and intuitive mindset. She focuses on the creation of manual artworks with the use of an airbrush, while staying true to her signature (digital) style. Additionally Iris van Wees will create most of the different flags on our chalkboard this year with her airbrush.

Specifically for people who are new in the world of bi+, we are organising a newbi+ workshop!

This workshop is aimed at people who feel bi, pan, or queer, or for people who do not (yet) label themselves. Actually, it's for everyone who feels attracted to more than one gender! In this workhsop you get to know each other, listen to each other's stories and explore what bi+ means to you and the other participants. Let's discover together how you can find a space of your own in the world of bi+!

Nice bonus: this workhop takes place during Pride Amsterdam and afterwards, we are hosting a live meetup at Lola. So you can make new friends during the workshop and accompany each other to the meetup after!

Walk-in from 14:30, workshop starts at 15:00 and ends at 17:00. Participation is free!

Shared Rainbow Legacy

Join our workshop to explore the heritage of the rainbow community’s ancestors. We’ll create a timeline of stories from 1850 to the present and examine what this legacy means for the 2024 rainbow generation. Unite across generations to honor our past and build a stronger, more inclusive future.

In the workshop we jointly delve into the heritage of the ancesters of the rainbow community. We fill a timeline from 1850 to the present. And identify moments that are important for the (parts of the) rainbow community. We discuss who preceded us in history and what the stories are. We broadly analyze past profits & losses. And reflect on what we have achieved together and where attention still needs to be focused for the future of the community.

Do you also have the feeling that there is more polarization in our community or do you want to learn more from queers of different generations? Would you like to join our workshop during Pride Week? Register by sending an email to [email protected]

In recent years, the rainbow community has undergone significant changes, leading to greater diversity but also increased division between various subgroups. At the same time, reports of anti-LGBT+ violence have risen, and anti-LGBT+ sentiments are gaining more visibility in public discourse.

The goal of this workshop is to break down the compartmentalized thinking within the rainbow community and promote mutual understanding. By focusing on similarities rather than differences in our discussions, we aim to bring the diverse subgroups closer together. In the workshop, you will experience the power of overcoming unconscious biases and contribute to the strength of the community.

The House of Extinction strives to bring the art of conscious drag to any queers and allies inclined to explore their inner drag self. In this workshop, we will delve into the herstory of drag as well as the art form's contemporary context. This includes an exploration of the proliferation of pinkwashing by corporate and fascist entities whom exploit queerness and LGBTQIA+ identities to distract from and justify environmental destruction, military intervention, and crimes against humanity. We invite you to join us for a reflective exploration of the intersection between gender identity, presentation, and performance. Bring everything you would like to incorporate in your look, such as makeup (brushes, mirrors), clothes, accessories and anything else you would like to experiment with.

During Donnie's Magic Ball, Queens and Kings take all children into Donnie's magical world. There will be dancing, reading, crafting, philosophising and much more. Nothing is too crazy and everything is allowed!

The Magic Ball is a fun packed day for children from 4 to about 10 years old. The Magic Ball is about unity and amazement. Children are playfully challenged to form their own opinions about the different ways you can be yourself. Making children more aware of issues such as equality, freedom and diversity in a contemporary way will broaden their way of looking at the world.
