Corporate Pride

A powerful signal

The commitment of companies that actively promote an inclusive and diverse society is invaluable. And this goes beyond just their internal human resources policies. By actively participating in and supporting activities of the LGBTQIA+ community, such as Amsterdam Pride, companies send a powerful message: everyone is of value and appreciated. Not only large companies but also the smaller ones that do so not only enrich the activities of the LGBTQIA+ community, but can also offer a helping hand to individuals who are still in the process of discovering their identity or who do not feel safe in their environment.

The message is clear: everyone is allowed to be there, and that includes you.In various ways, companies are active and visible in their support of the LGBTQIA+ community. In addition to sponsoring Amsterdam Pride and LGBTQIA+ organisations, for example, this manifests itself in, among other things, establishing internal LGBTQIA+ networks and support groups for employees and offering inclusive training for staff. But also by creating advertising campaigns promoting diversity and acceptance and even fighting for equal rights and anti-discrimination laws.

More than just sailing along

The Corporate Pride Committee consists of representatives of companies that will participate in the canal parade during Pride Amsterdam that year or facilitate this for LGBTQIA+ organisations that do not have the financial means to do so. Through their contribution to the canal parade, the participating companies not only facilitate this event, but also contribute to organising various activities during Pride Amsterdam. During the year, committee members meet four times.

Besides networking, these meetings are mainly used to share experiences on diversity and inclusion regarding both employees and clients. Best practices are discussed and experts are invited to highlight specific aspects of diversity and inclusion, e.g. aimed at improving personnel policies.Within the Corporate Pride Committee, a working group organises a congress prior to Pride week. This congress focuses on themes that highlight and strengthen the role of business in achieving an inclusive and diverse society.

This congress is not only for members of the Corporate Pride Committee. Members of the Pride Business Club, in which all partners of the Amsterdam Pride Foundation are represented, are also welcome to attend. The close ties between the Corporate Pride Committee and the Pride Business Club strengthen the involvement of all partners of the Amsterdam Pride Foundation. Together, they contribute to creating a society where diversity is celebrated and where everyone can feel accepted.
