Where it all began
Junior Pride started in 2021, when teacher Elise Lodder came out to her class. The reactions on social media were overwhelming: lots of support, but also negative responses. That moment made one thing clear to Elise: she wanted to do more for the community. At the same time, Marco Altena, chair of Youth Pride, was setting up Junior Pride. Their ideas and energy came together, and Junior Pride was born.
Collaborations and activities
Junior Pride has since grown into an engaged and active committee. We work with organisations such as Natural Foundation, COC, the OBA and Meer dan Gewenst. With all these partners we pursue one shared goal: a safe and inclusive environment where every child can be themselves.
We support schools and education professionals in making sexual and gender diversity discussable in the classroom. During Pride Park we also host a varied programme for children, parents and teachers. Visitors can join craft activities, get face paint, listen to storytime sessions and visit our information stand. That way we make Pride accessible, educational and—above all—fun for young visitors.
