WorldPride Amsterdam will take place from 25 July to 8 August 2026!

WorldPride under the sign of UNITY

For the first time ever, Amsterdam will host WorldPride. WorldPride is a global event that promotes visibility and awareness of LGBTQIA+ issues internationally. Amsterdam, with more than 180 nationalities, is the most diverse city in the world. Our strong and vibrant LGBTQIA+ community gives the city a unique atmosphere of freedom, creativity and tolerance. In 2001, the very first same-sex marriage took place here. In 2026, we will celebrate 25 years of marriage equality being possible - a milestone still not taken for granted worldwide.

UNITY as a symbol

In a world where tolerance and freedom for the LGBTQIA+ community are not a reality everywhere, Amsterdam aims to be a symbol of unity.

The WorldPride 2026 logo shows that unity is the key to fighting intolerance.

The power of patterns

For the visual identity, a fan - or internationally, a kaleidoscope - was chosen in which countless cultures come together in a colourful whole. The patterns refer to centuries of exchanging art and culture through ceramics, fabrics and traditions.

They bring together not only Amsterdam, but also the entire Kingdom of the Netherlands and the many communities that make up our country:

  • Netherlands - Delft Blue tiles, tulips and windmills
  • Caribbean Netherlands - Pangi (Suriname), Wanglo flower (Aruba), hibiscus and monstera (Curaçao), feathers from Aruba's carnival costumes
  • Indonesia - Batik Kawung
  • Morocco - geometric motifs
  • Turkey - the national tulip

In addition, the Kissing Boys and Kissing Girls, inspired by the Schiffmacher Royal Blue Tattoo collection, refer to love in all its forms.

UNITY in pictures

Together, these elements form a rich palette of motifs that show that every culture is an indispensable part of the bigger picture. Just as the patterns in the kaleidoscope are constantly taking new forms, so too is Amsterdam constantly in motion - but always connected by unity in diversity.

WorldPride 2026 in Amsterdam will thus become not only a celebration of love and freedom, but also a living work of art that the whole world can identify with.

Theme

WorldPride in Amsterdam is an important milestone, a dot on the horizon that we are working towards together. Equal and acquired rights are under pressure in many places and we as the LGBTQIA+ community need to make our voices heard in a visible and combative way.

Impact

WorldPride should be a fully inclusive celebration, where new connections are made and collaborations emerge. After WorldPride, activists should return home full of energy and as part of a new wave of LGBTQIA+ emancipation and activism.

Pride Amsterdam since 1996

What began in 1996 as a celebration to attract more LGBTQIA+ visitors to our city in the summer has grown into a nine-day festival and one of the biggest and most beautiful celebrations worldwide. The city turns into a rainbow of events, with more than 300 activities.
